Human and sexual trafficking

The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard HB 1028 concerning human and sexual trafficking authored by Rep. Truitt.  The bill makes it a class A misdemeanor for visiting a common nuisance, for knowingly or intentionally visiting a place with the intent to violate certain laws related to human and sexual trafficking; and makes it a Level 6 felony for a person to knowingly or intentionally maintain a place used one or more times to violate certain laws related to human and sexual trafficking.
The Indiana State Police and the Attorney General’s Office testified in support of the bill. The bill passed 12-0.
