Legislative Update

Driving privilege suspensions

January 29, 2016 Filed Under: Traffic

The House Roads and Transportation Committee heard HB 1249 authored by Rep.  Moseley regarding driving privilege suspensions. The bill provides that if judgment has been imposed for committing two speeding in work zone violations within one year the court may order the BMV to suspend the person’s driving privileges for the second violation for 60 days and adds a new subsection that specifically outlines the process for granting specialized driving privileges for these cases.
The bill was amended to correct some technical issues and to conform to other amendments in HB 1087. After receiving supporting testimony from Indiana Constructors Association, labor union representative, and Indiana Department of Transportation, the bill passed as amended 11-0.
