January 29, 2016 Filed Under: Traffic

The Senate Corrections & Criminal Law Committee heard SB 248 authored by Sen. Ford on work zone safety. The bill directs the court to recommend a 60-day suspension of driving privileges of a person who in a 12-month period accumulates more than two judgments or convictions for speeding or reckless driving in a highway work zone when workers are present.
The Indiana State Building Constructions Trades Council, Indiana Department of Transportation, Laborers Union, Indiana Constructors Inc., and International Union of Operating Engineers testified in support of the bill. The bill passed 7-1.
