The House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee heard SB 26, sponsored by Rep. Steuerwald, on children in need of services with a disability. Author Sen. Steele testified that this bill provides that a child is a child in need of services if the child needs care, treatment or rehabilitation and lives in the same household as an adult who committed certain offenses or has been charged with certain offenses and is awaiting trial.
A technical amendment was accepted by consent, and was supported by Department of Child Services. The amended bill passed 13-0.
