The Senate Judiciary Committee heard HB 1047 sponsored by Sen. Bray on the court motion clerk pilot program. The bill establishes a pilot program administered by the Indiana Judicial Center to provide trial courts in five counties with assistance preparing orders for complex motions utilizing attorneys, senior judges and third year law students.
The bill was amended to authorize, but not require, the establishment of the clerk pilot program under the administration of the Indiana Judicial Center. Representatives from the Indiana Judges Association, Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana Judicial Center testified in support of the amended bill. The amended bill passed 9-0.
