The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 27, sponsored by Rep. Speedy, allowing the judge of the Marion Circuit Court to appoint one full-time Marion Circuit Court magistrate.
Marion Circuit Court Judge Sheryl Lynch testified on behalf of the bill. The bill was amended by consent to extend the term of the magistrate jointly appointed by the judge of the Sullivan circuit court and the judge of the Sullivan superior court from July 1, 2016, to January 1, 2017. The Indiana Trial Lawyers Association testified in favor of the amendment. The amended bill passed 11-0.
