The House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee heard Rep. Frizzell’s HB 1080 on the Commission on Improving the Status of Children (Commission). This bill provides that the Commission may appoint an executive director to perform duties as assigned by the Commission. It also provides that the Office of Judicial Administration shall pay the salary of the executive director, and also provide staffing and an office. Additionally, the legislation removes obsolete provisions related to Commission duties.
Judge Mary Willis, the Indiana Supreme Court’s Chief Administrator Officer, and a representative of the Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy (IARCA) testified in favor of the bill. The bill passed 12-0.
