The Senate Family and Children Services Committee heard Sen. Mrvan’s SB 434 on child sexual abuse prevention. The bill requires the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to provide services and programs for the prevention of child sexual abuse as well as treatment and assistance for victims and families of child sexual abuse. This would include development of educational materials on the subject available to the public, counseling and assistance for victims and their families, and training for DCS case workers on treatment and services for victims.
DCS testified that it already does everything the bill requires. A representative from Prevent Child Abuse Indiana testified in favor of the bill. No second was heard on the vote for the bill.
