The House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code heard Rep. Steuerwald’s HB 1349 on rehabilitation progress and recidivism reporting. Indiana Office of Court Services Executive Director Jane Seigel, who serves as chair of the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC), explained that the bill specifies the types of data to be given by criminal justice entities to the DOC for compilation and reporting to JRAC.
JRAC member David Powell of the Prosecuting Attorneys Council and Court Services attorney Michelle Goodman spoke in support of the bill, which passed 10-0.
