Revocation of teaching licenses

The Senate Judiciary Committee heard Sen. Bassler’s and Sen. Kruse’s SB 367 on revocation of teaching licenses. The bill requires a court to issue an order recommending to the Department of Education revocation of a defendant’s teaching license if the defendant is convicted of certain crimes and the victim is a child less than 18 years of age. The bill also requires the Department of Education to revoke the license upon receipt of the order and provides that a presentence investigation includes gathering information with respect to whether the convicted defendant holds a teaching license.
The bill was held for the next meeting.
