The House Judiciary Committee heard Rep. Braun’s and Rep. T. Brown’s HB 1511 on liens on towed vehicles. The bill provides that a person that tows a vehicle at the request of a law enforcement officer has a mechanic’s lien on the vehicle. The bill was amended by consent to address lenders’ notice concerns.
Testimony in support of the amended bill was heard from Auto Return, Indiana Towing and Wreckers Association, Indiana Credit Union League and Indiana Bankers Association. The amended bill passed 11-0.
