The Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee heard HB 1349 on rehabilitation progress and recidivism reporting. Sponsor Sen. Young explained that the bill provides that any entity in receipt of funds: (1) recommended by the Justice Reinvestment Advisory council; and (2) appropriated by the Department of Correction; must provide certain statistics related to recidivism, rehabilitation, supervision, and treatment.
Sen. Young also explained that the proposed amendment to the bill urges the legislative council to assign to a study committee the topic of the implementation of HEA 1006-2014. The bill was amended by consent and passed as amended, 8-0.
