March 24, 2017 Filed Under: Civil

The House Public Policy Committee heard SB 191 on disposal of firearms sponsored by Rep. Cherry and Rep. Judy. A 9-4 roll call vote amended the bill to incorporate the language authorizing certain individuals to carry a handgun without a license as introduced in HB 1071.  The amended bill authorizes certain persons protected by a civil protection order to carry a handgun without a license for a specified period of time if the person applies for the license during the 60-day period following the issuance of the civil protection order.
