On amend and vote only, the Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law heard SB 52 authored by Sen. Young on zero THC hemp extract. The bill was amended to define zero THC hemp extract and allow for the sale of certain qualifying products (including for treatment of epilepsy and opioid treatment) with 0.3% THC with no registry to anyone who wants to purchase, so long as the product is labeled and has a certification from a lab with the ingredients and percentages. The bill further allows protection for State employees who test positive for THC as a result of using the product and provides immunity from job termination.
At last week’s meeting, significant testimony was heard for and against the bill. The amended pill passed 7-2.
