For amend and vote only, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard Sen. Bohacek’s SB 192 on nonconsensual pornography. The bill defines “intimate image” and creates a civil cause of action against a person who displays or distributes an intimate image without the consent of the individual depicted in the intimate image, provides that a prevailing plaintiff is entitled to court costs, reasonable attorney’s fees, and actual damages or liquidated damages not to exceed $10,000, and establishes criteria to be used by the trier of fact in determining damages.
The Committee removed the amendment from the bill, and the bill passed in its original form 8-1.
