The Senate Judiciary Committee heard SB 69 on possession of a firearm on school property authored by Sen. Sandlin. This bill exempts law enforcement and retired law enforcement officers who maintain firearms certification from the prohibition against carrying a firearm on school property. The bill was amended by committee consent to remove unnecessary language.
The amended bill was supported by the Indiana Friends of Police, Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police, Indiana State Rifle Association, and the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association. The amended bill passed, 10-1.
