Legislative Update

Campground matters

March 26, 2021 Filed Under: Criminal

The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 17 sponsored by Rep. Speedy and Rep. Miller regarding campground matters.  The author, Sen. Doriot, introduced the bill which allows a campground owner to ask an individual to leave a campground in certain instances. The bill specifies that an individual who remains on or returns to a campground after having been asked to leave the campground commits criminal trespass. The bill also provides that a guest who is asked to leave a campground is entitled to a refund of any unused portion of prepaid fees.
The bill was amended by consent to make a technical correction.
The Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council and a campground owner testified in support of the bill.  The amended bill passed 11-0.
