The Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee heard SB 94 on sentence modification authored by Sen. Bohacek. This bill establishes a procedure to allow inmates convicted of qualifying crimes in the Department of Correction (Department) an additional opportunity to request sentence modification from the sentencing court if the Department has recommended sentence modification.
Representatives from the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council and the Indiana Public Defender Council testified but remained neutral. The bill passed 7-2.
