The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard HB 1306 on killing a law enforcement animal authored by Rep. Jeter. The bill increases the penalty for killing a law enforcement animal from a Level 6 to a Level 5 felony.
Testimony from Fishers Police Department representatives was heard in support of the bill. Testimony in opposition to the bill was heard from Indiana Public Defender Council. The bill passed 12-1.
