The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 445 on electronic monitoring standards sponsored by Rep. McNamara and Rep. Steuerwald. The bill was authored by Sen. Walker and Sen. Bohacek and makes various updates to the electronic monitoring language passed last year and authorizes the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council to establish electronic monitoring standards and conduct a workload study of electronic monitoring and home detention.
The Indiana Department of Correction provided background information on the department’s use of electronic monitoring with parolees. The bill passed 11-0.
