The Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee heard HB 1323 on information privacy relating to firearms sponsored by Sen. Freeman and Sen. Tomes.Sen. Freeman introduced the bill which specifies the circumstances under which information concerning a person who applies for or holds a license to carry a handgun may be released to a federal government entity. Those circumstances include: (1) the applicant is a subject of interest in an active criminal investigation; and (2) the applicant has been arrested for crime.
The bill passed 6-0.
