The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 71 on parole sponsored by Rep. O’Brien. Author Sen. Bohacek presented the bill. The Department of Correction explained that this bill cleans up current language regarding the length of parole for specified crimes of violence and clarifies that time served while incarcerated does not count toward the term of parole. The bill passed 12-0.
