The House Judiciary Committee heard SB 345 on the termination of parental rights sponsored by Rep. King for amend and vote only. The bill establishes procedures for termination of the parent-child relationship involving a safe haven infant.
At last week’s meeting, Chief John Moriarty, Carmel Fire Department, on behalf of the Safe Haven Baby Box Organization and Adoptions for Indiana testified in favor of the bill.
Amendments on the placement of a safe haven infant in a preapproved adoptive home and expansion of the notice requirements for a petition to terminate the parent-child relationship of a safe haven infant were adopted by consent. The amended bill passed 11-0.
