The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation heard HB 1049 sponsored by Sen. Crider on transportation matters, which includes provisions on bicycle traffic control signals. Author Rep. Pressel presented the bill which in relevant part would permit cyclists to make left turns from a left turn lane on a one-way street to another one-way street with the flow of traffic. This bill is also the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) agency bill and includes other transportation related legislation.
Build Indiana Council, INDOT, and Indiana Association of County Commissioners testified in support of the bill. The bill passed 9-0.
