The House Local Government Committee heard SB 314 on address confidentiality. Sponsored by Rep. Engleman and Rep. Olthoff. Authored by Sen. Gaskill, the bill replaces a “victim of domestic violence” with an individual who is an address confidentiality “program participant” in the definition of “covered person” for purposes of the statutes concerning restricted addresses. The bill also urges the legislative council to assign to the appropriate interim study committee the topic of studying certain topics regarding address confidentiality protections for various groups such as judges.
The bill was amended to add language regarding community mental health center governing boards, adding language regarding membership of the government board of a mental health center that serves eight or more counties. Representatives on behalf of Indiana County Commissioners testified in favor of the amendment. The amended bill passed 11-0.
