The Senate Tax & Fiscal Policy Committee heard HB 1466 on jury compensation sponsored by Sen. Gaskill and authored by Rep. Davis. Last week, Rep. Davis explained that the bill increases the juror appearance rated to $30 per day, the juror service rate to $80 per day for the first five days and provides the juror service rate is $90 per day beginning on the sixth day of trial. The bill also increased the jury fee from $2 to $6 and adds $75 jury fee to civil tort and civil plenary cases. Judge Michael Fish testified on behalf of the Jury Committee in favor of the bill and addressed committee questions.
The bill passed 12-0.
