Immunity for escort of a banned person

The Senate Judiciary Committee heard HB 1252 on immunity for escort of a banned person sponsored by Sen. Becker and authored by Rep. Hatfield. This bill specifies that under the Tort Claims Act, a governmental entity or employee acting within the scope of employment is not liable for loss resulting from injury to a person or property of a person who is under supervision of a governmental entity and subject to a court order requiring the person to be escorted by a county police officer while the person is on or in a government building owned by a county building authority.

The bill passed 10-1.
