On recommitment, the Senate Appropriations Committee heard HB 1050 on various motor vehicle matters sponsored by Sen. Crider and authored by Rep. Pressel. The bill, in relevant part, provides that an individual commits a Class B infraction for failing to yield the right-of-way by making a lane change or failing to reduce their speed (if changing lanes would be impossible or unsafe) when approaching a disabled stationary vehicle with flashing hazard lights. This bill is also the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) agency bill and includes other motor vehicle related legislation.
The bill was amended to remove certain weight limits for commercial vehicles. The amended bill passed 9-0.
