January 19, 2024 Filed Under: Civil

The Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee heard SB 36 on interference with boundary marker authored by Sen. Doriot. The bill creates a civil penalty for a person who knowingly or intentionally disturbs or removes a boundary marker. The bill was amended by consent to permit the court to order a person who disturbs or removes a boundary marker to pay the cost of reestablishing the boundary marker.

The following testified in support of the bill: Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors, County Surveyors Association, and Association of Indiana Counties.  The amended bill passed 8-0.
