The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard HB 1121 authored by Rep. McNamara on concurrent juvenile jurisdiction on military bases. The bill creates a process for the state to establish concurrent jurisdiction with the United States for certain juvenile proceedings on Indiana military property.
The bill was amended by consent to (1) clarify that it applies to only juvenile delinquency matters; and (2) address military bases that cover more than one county. The United States Department of Defense testified in support of the bill. The amended bill passed 13-0.
