Driving without a license

The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard HB 1114 on driving without a license authored by Rep. Zimmerman. The bill adds the following criminal offenses for an individual who knowingly or intentionally operates a motor vehicle on a highway and has never received a driver’s license: Class A misdemeanor- if operation results in bodily injury; Level 6 Felony if operation results in severe bodily injury; Level 5 felony if operation results in death or catastrophic injury. 

The bill was amended by consent to fix scrivener’s error. A member of the public testified on the bill. The amended bill passed 10-3.
