The Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee heard HB 1167 on exceptions to the paraphernalia statutes sponsored by Sen. Clark and Sen. Johnson. Author Rep. Meltzer testified that the bill removes items that detect the presence of a controlled substance (i.e., test strips) from the paraphernalia statutes to promote treatment and prevent overdoses.
Testimony in support of the bill was heard from the medical community. The bill passed 9-0.
