The Senate Judiciary Committee heard HB 1079 regarding property matters sponsored by Sen. Alexander and authored by Rep. Zimmerman which would permit a warehouseman or storage facility to sell a tenant’s unclaimed property 30 days after the required notice to the tenant. The current period is 90 days.
The bill was amended by consent to provide for a 45-day period for sale of tenant’s unclaimed property. The Indiana Apartment Association testified in support. The bill passed as amended 10-0.
