The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 139 on jury duty exemption for women breastfeeding sponsored by Rep. Olthoff and authored by Sen. Donato and Sen. Doriot. The bill exempts a woman who is breastfeeding from a birth within the past 365 days from jury duty.
The American College of OBGYNs, Good Trouble Coalition, Association of Women’s Health, obstetric and neonatal nurses and a private citizen testified in support of the bill. The bill passed 13-0.
