Evidence preservation requirements

The House Courts and Criminal Code Committee heard SB 263 on evidence preservation requirements sponsored by Reps. Steuerwald and Schaibley and authored by Sen. Doriot and Sen. Koch. The bill creates law on the preservation of biological evidence in court cases.

Testimony was heard from the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, Innocence Project, and a law student. The bill passed 13-0.
